This log documents a challenging attempt to translate all the “flat patches” (planar elements) from my necklace design into fully three-dimensional forms. My method was to digitally “fold” and “curl” these 2D shapes, attempting to “twist” them into what I hoped would be relatively “good-looking” 3D structures. However, I critically assess that this process was not entirely successful; many of the resulting forms “don’t look very good” and are “different from my expectations.” In response, I “adjusted what could be adjusted” to force them into a 3D shape, but this revealed the difficulty of this 2D-to-3D translation. Throughout this process, the core concept remained: all forms are designed as extensions of a central spinal column, and I am still referencing the shapes of the spine itself during this modification.
