This log documents the detailed modelling of the necklace, showcasing the final arrangement of the bone structures (such as the bone-cross and cathedral-like elements). Critically, it also records a direct comparison between two major design versions. My initial model was a faithful translation of my 2D digital design, which resulted in an extended spinal column that I determined was “too long.” Upon critical assessment, I identified that this original version was flawed from both a functional and an aesthetic perspective: its excessive length would be “inconvenient and uncomfortable to wear,” and its proportions felt “uncoordinated.” This led me to make the deliberate design decision to shorten and re-compose the piece into the second, more resolved version. This pivot demonstrates a crucial step in my practice: moving beyond a literal interpretation of the initial drawing to prioritise the final object’s real-world ergonomic function, wearability, and overall aesthetic harmony.
